The process of live wedding painting
from booking to receiving the masterpiece

Live wedding painting is a performance-based art form where a professional artist creates a custom painting of a wedding ceremony or reception in real-time. The process typically spans from booking and pre-wedding planning consultation to a final studio refinement.

1. The Creative Consultation & Booking

The process usually begins months in advance. Once a couple reaches out, we have a deep-dive consultation to connect personally and to answer any questions.

  • Choosing the Moment: Couples select a key scene to be immortalized, such as the first kiss, the exchange of vows, the ceremony exit, the first dance etc.

  • Composition & Style: Artists discuss preferences for painting style (e.g., impressionistic or realistic) and which specific family members or details (like florals or venue architecture) to include.

  • Logistics: Once the contract is signed and the date is secured, the painter coordinates with the wedding planner to secure a strategic vantage point, visible for guests, with proper lighting and access to power.

2. The Live Event Process

On the wedding day, the artist typically follows a structured timeline to complete the majority of the work on-site:

  • Early Arrival (2–3 Hours Before): The artist arrives early to set up their easel and begin painting the the background, venue architecture, and décor.

  • Capturing the Moment: When the chosen moment occurs, the artist takes reference photos or videos to accurately capture the couple's poses and the lighting as it happened.

  • Painting the Couple: During the reception, the artist shifts focus to adding the bride, groom, and key guests into the already-established background.

  • Guest Interaction: As part of the entertainment, guests are often encouraged to watch the progress, sometimes even do a few brushstrokes and chat with the artist.

3. Finalization and Delivery

Depending on the artist's preference and style, the painting may follow one of two paths:

  • Same-Day Reveal: Some artists complete the painting by the end of the night for a "grand reveal" to the couple before they leave. Usually, less realistic styles follow this path.

  • Studio Refinement: Most artists bring the painting to a 80-90% complete stage by the end

of the night, and take the canvas back to their studio for 8 to 40 hours of additional detailing and touch-ups, to make sure the painting is perfect.

  • Varnishing: Once fully dry and approved by the couple, a clear varnish is applied to protect the paint. The finished heirloom is typically delivered or shipped via an insured carrier typically within a 4 – 12 weeks.

Finally you receive the art piece, that will help you relive that sweet moment for a life time.
